Who can participate in the study?

All patients who have been diagnosed with Perthe's disease between 1996 and 2000 will be invited to participate in the study.

What is examined in the study?

We want to do a clinical examination of your hip by testing movement and force around your hip joints. In addition, X-rays should be taken to assess the hip's shape and development. The entire survey lasts approx. 30 min.

Is it dangerous to take X-rays?

An X-ray examination of the hip is planned. The study is performed with modern appliances that have significantly reduced radiation dose. We have investigated how high the radiation load for each participant will be, and the radiation protection institution informed us that radiation load is as high as staying 3 months in Oslo, ie very low and harmless.

How do I get to know more about my own condition?

We have set up our own doctor's office with a specialist in orthopedic surgery and Perthes who will inform you personally about your hip condition.

I have agreed to participate in the study, but wish to withdraw. Is it possible?

All participants have the opportunity to withdraw from the study at any time. Just let us know.

Do I receive compensation / financial support to participate in the study?

There is no cost associated with X-ray or clinical examination. We also cover travel expenses (rates according to public transport) for all participants. Apart from this, we unfortunately do not have the opportunity to cover other costs.

Who can I contact for any questions regarding the study?

Feel free to contact research coordinator Johan Brevik for any questions regarding the study. Email: Koordinator@perthes.net
Phone: +47 46777315 The email is not occupied 24 hours a day but he responds as fast as possible.
Due to the duty of confidentiality, it is not possible to answer individual clinical questions.
